Overview: The workshop session on Relational Database Management using MySQL was conducted by Neha Issar on 10.10.2023 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Lloyd Business School, Greater Noida for the students interested in Big Data and Business Analytics. The workshop was attended by 50 participants who were interested in learning about relational database management and MySQL.

Objectives:

• Introduce relational database management systems (RDBMS) and their benefits.
• Introduce MySQL, an open-source RDBMS
• Teach participants how to create and manage databases in MySQL.
• Teach participants how to query and update data in MySQL.

Content:

The workshop covered the following topics:

• Introduction to RDBMS
• Introduction to MySQL
• Creating and managing databases in MySQL
• Querying and updating data in MySQL

Hands-on exercises:

The workshop included hands-on exercises in which participants learned how to create and manage databases, insert, update, and delete data, and write and execute SQL queries. How to download datasets from Kaggle (a great source of datasets) and run SQL queries on the datasets.

Feedback:

The participants provided positive feedback on the workshop, stating that it was well-organized and informative. They also appreciated the hands-on exercises which helped them to solidify their understanding of the concepts and have practical knowledge regarding MySQL. The feedback form was asked to fill by every participant after completion of the session.

Conclusion:

Overall, the workshop session on Relational Database Management using MySQL was a success. The participants learned about RDBMS and MySQL, and its importance in present times and coming future especially with regards to Business Analytics.

Recommendations:

• Include more hands-on exercises.
• Provide more opportunities for participants to interact with the trainer and with each other.
• Provide participants with access to the workshop materials after the workshop.
